Parish Mass Intentions

We invite you to schedule Mass Intentions in-person at our Parish Office, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm. No appointment is necessary.

If you are unable to come during business hours, you may complete the Mass Intentions form linked below and mail it to the Parish Office. When the Mass book opens for the upcoming year, it is announced on our website and Bulletin.

Availability

The faith of our community is most evident in the abundance of Mass requests we receive, which exceed the number of Masses offered! 

To allow as many of our parishioners as possible to schedule Mass Intentions, a maximum of three intentions per year for or from any one individual or group may be scheduled at the parish.

Stipend

The standard stipend for Mass Intentions is $15 (check made payable to St. Gregory the Great). To request more than one intention, one check may be written.

Votive Candles

We light votive candles in church to remember intentions and represent the offering of our prayers to God. You may light a candle when the Church is open for a suggested offering of $3.

Canon Law and Mass Intentions Policies

We handle requests in a way that is in keeping with the Code of Canon Law and Diocesan policies.

  • Canon Law requires the scheduling of one Pro Populo (for the people) Intention on every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation. This intention includes all those who live in the boundaries of St. Gregory the Great Parish, regardless of their faith tradition. No other intention may be scheduled at this Mass.
  • Canon Law ordinarily prohibits the scheduling of multiple intentions for one Mass. However, the Diocese of Buffalo permits that in a given week there may be three Masses offered with two intentions, if the intentions are not for the same person/same intention or offered by the same person/family.
