St. Gregory the Great

Liturgical Ministries

Liturgical Ministries are at the heart of worship at St. Gregory the Great Parish. Serve others during the Mass, actively contribute to the beauty of our liturgical celebrations, and help our parish community foster a deeper connection to God.

Altar Servers

Altar Servers – Adult & Youth

Altar Servers assist the priest and deacon during the Mass and other religious ceremonies. Altar Servers are trained to help at the Mass so that it can be celebrated with grace and reverence.

Art & Environment

Art and Environment Committee

The Art and Environment Committee is responsible for the beautiful and inspiring liturgical decor installations that are an integral part of the liturgy and church atmosphere during each liturgical season throughout the year.

Children's Liturgy

Children's Liturgy of the Word

Celebrated each Sunday at the 10:00 am Mass, except when the monthly Family Mass is scheduled. Before we begin our Scripture readings and homily, children (ages 3 through Grade 4) come together to the Gathering Room for readings and discussion on a level that they can readily understand.

Collaborative Family Mass

Family Masses are collaborative between the school, Family Faith Formation, and the parish. Students in Grades 4 – 10 can participate in the Family Masses as Lectors, Greeters, or Ushers. For more information, download the Family Mass flyer.

Homebound

Communion Ministers to the Sick and Home Bound

These Ministers bring the Eucharist to the homebound on Sundays. As a parish family, we are concerned about one another. This ministry keeps those who cannot attend our liturgies connected with us. Ministers are organized in teams and serve once a month. Training sessions are held as needed. Please be sure to call us if you or a family member are homebound and would like to receive the Eucharist on Sundays.

Ministers of Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (Eucharistic Ministers)

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (Eucharistic Ministers) assist our priests in the distribution of the Eucharist. This ministry, resulting from Vatican Council II, is a restored privilege of the laity. Mandatory training sessions are sponsored periodically by the Diocese and St. Gregory’s. For the Diocesan training or a parish schedule, please call the Parish Office.

Lectors

Lectors (Ministers of the Word)

Lectors proclaim the readings and Prayers of the Faithful at Mass. Individuals with strong and clear voices are encouraged to volunteer. Through study and prayer, the Lector develops an understanding of the Word of God and its importance in our celebration of faith.

Sacristans

Sacristans, Adult & Youth

Sacristans are trained parishioners who assist with preparations for liturgy and ensure that the liturgical vessels and linens are properly cleaned and ready for Mass.

Ushers

Ushers

Our Ushers provide assistance, help seat parishioners, take up collections, distribute the Bulletin, and generally oversee the congregation’s well-being during liturgical services.
